A little bit about Denver, Colorado
Denver is the Colorado state capital and the most populous city in the state. Located just east of the front range of the Rocky Mountains at an elevation of 5280 ft. Denver is often called the Mile High City precisely because its elevation is exactly one mile high. In fact, there is an official marker on the Colorado State Capital building reflecting the step that is exactly one mile above sea level.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, in 2006, the City and County of Denver had a population of 566,974. The same year, the U.S. Census Bureau also estimated the Denver-Aurora-Boulder Combined area to have a population of 2,927,911 and ranked 17th most populous U.S. metropolitan area.
Originally settled as a mining town, Denver was founded in 1858 and named after Kansas Territorial Governor James W. Denver.
Today, Denver is a vibrant city with a highly educated, young, athletic population. Denver's economy is highly diversified with employment opportunities in many different fields including, health care, financial services, energy and telecommunications.
